About Us

Elaine and Hannah have been friends for years and share a true passion for supporting families caring for a child(ren) with additional needs and together they bring out the best in one another. When they created Chaos & Calm they wanted to create a place of support, and friendship and somewhere everyone can come and be their true self. They were delighted when a visitor commented ‘It’s like walking into a hug!’

Elaine aka ‘Chaos’ trained as a Nursery Nurse after school and has worked with pre school children since she was 18.  She became a Portage Home Visitor in 2005 where she remained until 2020 and her passion grew for working with Children with additional needs.  Since then, as well as co-creating ‘Chaos and Calm’ with Hannah, she provides respite for a number of families with children aged  5 – 21 who have complex needs.

Elaine loves to cook and bake, (you can sample some of the products of this at Twinkles or the Teddy Hewitt stay and play sessions!) and she also loves nothing better than a bit of messy play, the messier the better in fact, and she will usually leave all groups covered in some flour, paint, slime or glitter.

Hannah aka ‘Calm’ trained as a Conductor in Conductive Education and is also a qualified teacher. She worked in a local special needs school for a number of years before moving over to South Africa for four years where she volunteered at a residential home for children with disabilities. She has been back in the UK since 2018 and alongside Chaos & Calm Hannah is also a very proud foster mummy to a 4 year old with complex medical needs.

Hannah is passionate about communication and is experienced in using lots of alternative communication methods including switching, Makaton and symbols.
